DC was born a couple of months ago and I now weigh the same as when I first got pregnant, but my regular (non-maternity) clothes -- pants specifically -- aren't even close to fitting. Can't pull them all the way on, much less zip or button them. What the ?? When will this change? I am sick of wearing maternity jeans. Has it been anyone else's experience that even if you've technically lost the baby weight, your clothes don't fit? What is wrong with me?

Your body has changed shape. Your hips have widened, and so (perhaps, depending on how you were carrying) has your rib cage. You could be 10 lbs lighter than pre-pregnancy weight and still not have them fit. There are some articles of clothing I was never able to fit into again. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but it's an unfortunate reality. But it's NOT because you're fat - go buy a few new key pieces to mix and match that make you feel good about yourself.

I'm 7 months out and back to pre-pregnancy weight and also have some pants that still don't fit. My middle is just squishier than it used to be so even though I weigh what I did before, I'm not shaped exactly the same. I'm buying in between pants in the hopes that I'll get back into my old wardrobe but am not holding my breath...

Continue to eat healthy, exercise as much as you can, and try not to focus on this - focus on your new baby instead. Congrats, btw!

your body will naturally getting smaller with time. You ribs, bones, hips etc.. were stretched. If not then you have bad genetics.

My child is 15-months and even though like you I've been at my pre-preg weight since 2 months post-partum, I still have trouble with my old close-fitting tops (still breastfeeding and 2 cups larger than my normal) and my old low-slung pants. I never really had hips before this and now that I've got 'em they've got a bit of interesting squish ... I'm learning to embrace my new womanly curves

BWAHAHAHAHA BAD genetics????? Bad based on what? the screwed up beauty standards we're obsessed with????
If your hips, ribcage and boobs changed to accommodate the growing life inside of you I must say you have VERY GOOD genetics.

Give yourself a couple more months OP. Your body is still changing shape. You may be fitting into your PP pants soon. I am, since my baby was about 4 months. My waist is still a bit thicker though.

Never the same. Even when I weighed ten pounds less than pre-kids. Just shape changed. At least my feet didn't get bigger. (I'm already and 11).

I'm 2 years postpartum and slightly below my pre-preg weight. My old pants fit or are too big but the tops are tight. Stopped nursing over a year ago but I am still up two cup sizes.

OP here -- thanks for the support. I am going to exercise & focus on eating well (but of course I still need to take in plenty of calories for breastfeeding). Hopefully with time I'll get back into my jeans - I'd hate to think I've spent $$ on clothes I may never wear again AND have to buy more that actually fit. We'll see. At least we're getting into summertime - I plan to wear a lot of [loose] sundresses for the next few months . . .
Thanks for the responses!
